Is canyoning safe for families?
Yes! As a beginner-friendly activity, our Level 1 is specifically designed for beginners, usually recommended for families and big groups, and it offers the perfect mix between safety, fun and adventure!
In all of our activities, you’ll be entitled to certified guides from ICA – International Canyoning Academy, a safety briefing, personal safety equipment, and all you need to proceed with maximum safety in the river.
Minimum age to go canyoning in Madeira?
Children aged 8 years or weighing at least 40 kgs are welcome to join us!
As for canyoning choice, with young children, we always recommend starting from Level 1, as adventurous as they might be, being out of their comfort zone can and will be a challenge.
Level 2 can also offer some thrill for older children, with higher waterfalls, jumps and slides!
Do the kids need to know how to swim?
Swimming is recommended but not mandatory, is just important that you let us know in advance so we can adapt our approach in the canyon and pay more attention to those situations.
